“Releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name.” That’s their mission and they are committed to it. I highly recommend taking the on-site tour any time you are in the Colorado Springs area. You will gain insight into the need that is out there and how they are being good stewards of the funds that the supporters give.
We have been working with Compassion for about 17 years now and we have had a wonderful relationship. It is great how they partner the Compassion Centers with local churches in the areas they are serving. We will continue to work with Compassion to help lift these children up out of poverty.
Our family had been sponsoring through Compassion International for years. Honored to have gotten to visit their headquarters and meet their staff.
We have been sponsoring many children for many decades. I was in Haiti in the 80's and visited my cousin's Compassion sponsored child and the rest of his siblings. The difference was beyond belief. The sponsored boy was fit, healthy, well dressed, well mannered, and could easily fit in at any prep school in the US. His siblings who were not sponsored looked like they were at deaths door. Sickly, orange hair, bloated bellies, and without hope. The parents were so grateful to have one of their children not only survive, but thrive. It's a HUGE difference! Don't hesitate, please sponsor. It works great! I've also really enjoyed writing and getting to know my sponsored girls and watch them grow into adulthood. Amazing program.
So I called and could not get a hold of anyone past the front desk and the person who picked up the call was very rude towards me even after explaining that I was in need to speak to someone. Long story short, the guy at the phone was telling me how compassion is loosing 7Billion in USA dollars because of a call center which I did not ask, then I asked him to transfer my call to a specific person he said I should have that person number am like if I had it I would have called directly , I did request for an email which was denied and I was told compassion does not take phones from outsiders and if am not wanting to talk to the robot then I should not call! 🤦♀️ My question still remains is compassion still a Christian company that I grew up knowing? I’d it only about donations now and nothing else? Very disappointed Alumni. All I wanted was to give back to a program I feel has invested soo much in me but I got shut on the door!
Outstanding organization. They rank high for stewardship of your donations on Charity Navigator, which the last I checked over 80% of their donations went to their programs. I was very happy with them during the years I sponsored a child. Receiving the letters back from my sponsored child was such a tangible personal touch. I look forward to sponsoring another child with them in the future.
I can not say enough about the tour or the organization! Incredible. The tour takes you through the beginning to present day of Compassion. You get to see their own zip code, various paintings done by sponsored children, the distribution center for organizing and mailing letters to both the children and the sponsors. Very powerful reminder of what a little bit, done consistently, over time time accomplishes. We were all impressed. Beautiful, significant and impactful. Our tour guide was a volunteer but knew her stuff really well!!! Absolutely worth the time to walk through it! Entrance is at the back of the building.
The CEO's salary is over 400k with other top salaries in the 300k area. I was shocked. I will complete the sponsorship I have with my Compassion child but I'm done after this. Very disappointed
